The coaching staff seems to be pretty high on a few of our OL with the Mayfield appeal, a preseason watch lists coming in for Mose and the Woodworth move.   I might have missed it somewhere but Why the demotion for Jordan Murray?   I am all about putting the best 5 out there, I just find it odd that our starting LT is now a 2nd string Guard.

He's a more ideal Right Tackle. His footwork is pretty bad but he has good strength/power.

You want your LT to be long and athletic/Quick. Murray is long, but not athletic enough for LT

Perhaps its the coaches way motivate him and say it's time to step up your game.

Don't think so.  We probably watched the last of Murray on a Saturday unless we're getting murdered or murdering.  Barring any unfortunate injuries.

Agree.

You don’t motivate a guy by replacing him with your best O-Lineman.

Because of Murray's size, he stands out and bad plays are easy to spot.   All offensive linemen are rated and I would bet that Murray's numbers are comparable to the majority of the starting lineup.  I don't have access to this data, but if he was sub-par would he have started for two years?

I really don't care who starts, just that the OL get substantially better.  However, I would be surprised if Murray isn't ether starting or a heavily used rotation player.

He also may have been starting because there was no better option. Sub-par is still better than a human turnstile(Which Murray was quite a bit at times)

Clearly the staff thinks there's a better option. Especially 3 years into recruiting their guys for their system.

It is not unusual for a pre season lineup to be used more as a motivation tool than an expected lineup.   I think it can be assumed that any starter is there because there is not a better option.

I have always thought Murray lacked the quickness for OT, and would be much better on the inside.  He as the entire ol was not close to were they need to be.  Again, the objective is to have a much improved ol.  I just find the criticism of Murray a little over the top for a player that was good enough to start for two years.
