Spoke with Kevin earlier in the recruiting season. He was recruited by Coach Choice and Coach Koonz. Kevin was very complentary of both coaches. He held offers from Tx State and NMSU. He visited NMSU this week. He was a 1st Team all district LB for Judson last year as a Jr. He visited North Texas a week or so ago. He said it had a very nice feel about it which led to commitment. Very Nice addition to keep the 5 day streak going! Will have more from the interview later!

This guys film is awesome.   How is he just barely a 3*?   

Usually, we see DB/LB highlight tapes with these HUGE hits, but they're often undisciplined, & rarely wrapping up.  They just rely on the force they bring to knock the target into next week.  It works for them at their High School level because they're amazing athletes.
Try that at the FBS level though, and the dude you hit will just shed it, or stiffarm you 5yds back and keep going... because he's also an amazing athlete.

There were only a few hits where Wood didn't actually wrap-up and bring down his target... still with some serious ferocity.

This goes way back but I just saw Wood's video and his rating is a highway robbery.  Likewise I also looked at Taylor Jacobs and he also got the shaft.  These guys have great recognition, speed to get there and they wrap up.  Converse Judson and SGP are a high level of competition and they deserve better.

I really liked the Murphy twins too.  They do about the same as Wood and Jacobs but at a little lower level of competition (Bishop Lynch).  I have no argument with their ratings.

      Transfer portal is killing P4 as well as G5

      You know, the playoff system to create a champion is better, but I still loved the way CFB was when conferences were regional, they had their champion tied into a specific bowl game, there weren't so many spare bowls featuring matchups that nobody cares about between 6-6 teams, and each season, the end of the year was talking about who had the better resume if this team loses or wins in their bowl game. I grew up loving the SWC and the Big Eight. Each year, the goal was to make it to Dallas or Miami and see where the chips fell. You were neighbors and friends with grads of those schools. I'm sure it was the same in the old version of the SEC and the ACC. It was just a fun time--and if things went great, the Cotton Bowl, the Orange Bowl, the Sugar Bowl, or the Rose Bowl would be for a national title. But if not, you watched them all because the games mattered in the big scheme of it all and they were on all day and night on New Years Day, along with the Fiesta Bowl, and then, later, the Citrus Bowl for the ACC Champ. Its a bygone era, no doubt, but the games had great coaches all over the country and players we got to know over the years. Yes, there was plenty of cheating, and yes, the big boys controlled the game, but it was more fun. Whatever it is we have today, I feel sorry for people who think CFB today is more enjoyable to follow and support. They probably think we are olds that have Good Ol Day Syndrome and that is fine. I can't really refute any of that. But it was a sport I and many of my age (50s now) loved and followed intensely. Today, we are dropping out very quickly, as we see the farce the portal and NIL are making of this great sport. Very sad...

      It's going to be interesting to see how the taxpayers see this (for state schools, N/A for private). Similar to the concerns regarding spending local tax $'s to build NFL stadiums, using tax dollars to run a minor league FB team may stir some controversy. I may be wrong since I don't keep up with all of the latest media payouts, etc, but I think there's not a lot of schools that actually make money on athletics (and this is BEFORE we start paying them directly). https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/research/Finances/2023RES_DI-RevExpReport_FINAL.pdf If UT essentially starts running a minor league FB team out of the school and makes money, should the tax payers expect a refund or cut in taxes directed to UT? What if they're losing money?
