I find it a bit worrisome that we are putting so much hope in a guy that may not even play next year. It's like we got Mayfield on offense and English on defense. Everything is riding on these guys being huge keys and we have no idea if they'll even play.

No exactly a recipe for continued success.

English, yeah.   Not much at nose behind him.  Right now, Dayton LeBlanc is listed 2nd string.   He certainly looks the part, but also looked completely gassed after only a few plays this Spring.   He's not ready.  A redshirt year is coming for him, or possibly a late start like Novil got last year.

The coaches are very high on Brammer though if Mayfield doesn't get the waiver.

I have no doubt they're high on Brammer, but Mayfield is the starter for a reason. If the waiver doesn't go through, there's gonna be drop off(likely).

I'm just saying I'm tired of seeing the depth be so shallow that if one guy doesn't play, it's the difference between 4 wins and 10 wins, and that's the way it seems sometimes with this staff.

Only 1 guy on this team could be responsible for this type of difference... and it's to be expected if you lose the Conference Offensive POY.   All other positions may be the difference between a game or two.

Not sure anyone is depending that much on ether one.  Mayfield starting last year for a reason and I expect he will start this year.  However, losing him is not going to crater the offense.

Also we all hope English will be a difference maker, but few are depending on him to be that.   Tauaalo is solid in the middle and Hamilton and Young on the ends should be better than an average CUSA defensive line. Backups are untested but that not unusual.   I am a lot more concerned about the linebacker position.

I'm just glad we have a guy like Kelvin Smith at right end...wherever that is.

Very underrated and, IMHO, underutilized player.

Couldn't agree more. Smith reminds me of that TE/whatever (I think he was from Azle) that played for Rice a few years ago and went on to play pro ball.

Jordan Taylor?

I really hope Chumley also continues to develop.  With his size, he could easily play at the next level if he works hard and embraces his role.
