Positives....

O-line looks to be improved. I am not as concerned about them as I was at this time last season.

Fine looks healthy and sharp. He has good chemistry with the receivers. I think we can continue to throw on most teams.

Negatives...

Our defense continues to worry me. When starters were on the field and everyone was serious, our D couldn't make plays. Tackling looked bad on too many plays. The secondary seems the weakest part of our defense...again.

I don't believe we have a running back in on our team that can replace Wilson. In all honesty, I don't believe the platoon philosophy will be able to replace Wilson's production either.

Our kicking game needs to get much better.

 

 

We are probably still waiting for some late transfers and we have a long time before next season, so I'm not worried yet.

The sky isn't falling. Littrell has proven he can win with a struggling defense. It's still way too early to worry about what we will look like next season. Players will get healthy, transfers will show up, and younger players will develop. In my opinion, we are in a much better position coming out of spring ball this season, than we have seen in many years.

Fear not, we have time to improve in all the areas of concern.

      TX State to the PAC 2?

      This gets the PAC to their first goal of full football membership before 2026. It also paves the way for entry into Texas. Perhaps at the suggestion of media advisors? Further expansion later to set up a possible Eastern Division of the PAC is predicted by several fan forums. PAC West: Wash St, Ore St, Fresno St, Boise St, Utah St, SDSU PAC East: Colo St., Texas St, "X", "X", "X", "X"

      I believe Army has been a positive addition to AAC football as far as the ESPN media contract viewership. Especially with the great football season they just had. UNT has had several games on mainline ESPN channels in both football and basketball this school year. I would say the most in a single season in our athletic history. I don't think they would have elevated us if we didn't warrant it with ESPN.

      TX State to the PAC 2?

      TxSt is at the right place, at the right time. Tulane and Memphis said no, UNLV and AFA got tied down to the MWC for extra money, it looks like the PAC doesn't want to bring up an FCS school, the AAC options come with a $27M exit fee hurdle. Who else is out there? NMSU? SHSU? The PAC needs to have an 8th full member before July 1st 2026 to keep their FBS designation. They don't have time to wait for options. They need to get schedules, and media partners settled. TxSt pays $5M to get out of the SBC, a very accessible number.

      Agree, everything will depend on the dollar amounts. $12M a team and I think we see some teams making the jump, personally I'm just not sure if they can get much more than what the AAC gets. If the AAC media deal does drop significantly in 2032 I would expect teams to move then, plus you would have no exit fees since you are in between contracts similar to how the Pac12 fell apart. We'll see soon enough who their media partner will be, and what kind of appetite they have for content.
