It's no NIT and we do have to pay to host but I still think it's a cool experience to host a playoff game at our own gym. Hopefully the students will take notice and provide a bigger showing.

One thing I didn't know until I read Vito's article is we keep all revenue. I doubt we get anywhere near $40k coming in but if we sell a few tickets and concession, I'd think we be between $10-$20k. Get a few donors to chip in and you can make it work. After this round, if you host Vito's article said there isn't a fee. You send actual ticket revenue back to CBI.

After looking at Mercer's schedule with w's and l's, they will be a handful.

I thought so as well.  To me, their overall competition appeared stronger than South Dakota's.

RPI disagrees with y'all by quite a bit.

I realize that, but I would argue that Mercer's conference was much stronger than SD's.  I would assume Mercer's losses affected their RPI quite a bit.  I honestly don't know how all of that works.  Pure speculation.  Either way, Mercer will be a tough game.

Looking at Mercer's offensive profile, I think we're looking at a similar philosophy to Marshall - Moreyball.  They rate #23 nationally in lowest % of their shots coming from two point FG attempts not at the rim...

Marshall FG Attempts

  • At the Rim - 37.7%
  • Threes - 45.6%
  • Non-rim Twos - 16.7%

Mercer FG Attempts

  • At the Rim - 40.8%
  • Threes - 40.6%
  • Non-rim Twos - 18.6%

Compared to Marshall, they actually shoot better from three

  • Marshall 3pt % - 35.2%
  • Mercer 3pt % - 38

Perimeter defense will be a key to victory

THIS JUST IN!! ESPN flipped for us because of a nasty practice accident, leaving the Bears one man short in their starting rotation.

Don't wanna look ahead, but has anyone else noticed that we could end up playing UNO at some point in this tournament?  Personally, I think it'd be kinda cool to renew our rivalry with them.  They were a school that always seemed to own us back in the day, but I am really glad they've made their way back up to competitive DI basketball after they decimated their program a few years back.
