If any coach in college football has earned "bulletproof" status, it's Gary Patterson.  Along with Franchione, he built TCU from a loser into a powerhouse; he has shown loyalty to TCU when bigger offers came along that no one would have blamed him for jumping at.  From TCU I imagine a private reprimand, a public apology, and efforts to curb these incidents in the future.  But Patterson's job is probably secure.
