Unusual team. We seem to play competitively with just about everyone, but just can't pull off so many down the stretch. Improvement in a couple of areas and hopefully that changes. Better change quickly as far as this year is concerned.

@Arkstfan said the one knock they had on McCasland was he didn’t finish the season like they wanted him to.  Hopefully that is just a one year thing and he and the team will bounce back from this very disappointing loss.  I’m his defense he has no bench.  He needs a few more players.

How are things going up there without him?

Good news is UTEP beat La Tech. That means that if we win out, the only help we need is La Tech beating UTSA (or Rice beating them) and UAB losing one more game (they play @ MTSU on Saturday, then have Marshall and WKU next week). Then we'd have the five seed. Need to get it together and take care of our part first

7 losses of 6 points or less has been damning to the season. Imagine if those 7 losses had bounced our way much like they did in football. We'd have a 21-7 basketball team and GM would be a voodoo magic worker. It's crazy how season's can be flipped one way or another on a dime.

On the same token, we've had 8 wins of 6 points or less. So, we've kind of split these nailbiter games. Otherwise, GM could be looking like a very, very bad hire had we not. A possible 6-22 record just as easily .

Competitiveness is where a foundation is laid we definitely have a solid one as of now.

I'm not worried about the staff.  The roster is still a work in progress this year and losing Gibson so early didn't help.  Getting another shooter on the floor in Tikhonenko next year and this team will be much harder to defend against.  Not to mention that much better at converting free throws.

I think people better get ready for a 19-20 win team next year, because it's coming.

I agree. While I don't discount coaching having an impact, I've read and observed experience wins close games more often than not. So when you combine 2nd year with this coaching staff, roster improvement and more experienced team I think 20-23 wins is realistic. Not to mention, this season the top of the league is better than it's been seen conference realignment. MTSU, WKU, ODU are all really good. Marshall is talented offensively, but not that good IMO. MTSU and ODU lose a lot.

Dreadful. Have booted two guys off the team. Playing a bunch of guys from Brady's last recruiting class that he signed after announcing his retirement.
