Know it doesn’t really affect us in the West, but Marshall’s QB has declared for the NFL Draft. Surprising considering he had a down year his Sophomore year when we played Marshall @ Apogee.

Could be one of those deals where he graduated and didn’t want to spend another year in college so he does the draft dog and pony show knowing full well he doesn’t have a snowball’s chance of being drafted. Also, Marshall has a new OC coming so that could be a factor too.

If you are not a sure fire draft pick it is stupid to turn down a free year of graduate school.  If he hasn’t graduated it is all the more stupid if he doesn’t have a career plan that doesn’t include being on a NFL roster in 2018.

The folks at herdfans did not seem overly distraught over this. That is all one needs to know about his chances to make a roster.

That said think about it: If Mason were 4 inches taller they'd be talking about his draft stock already.  As it is he may never get drafted, purely due to size.

I’ve brought this up before..

Mason will be at UNT 4 years, Wilson had 5 years between NCST and Wisconsin..

they are the same height or within an inch of each other, and Mason is about 19 lbs behind Wilson (204 lbs and mason reported at 185) from his official NFL combine measurables, with Wilson likely putting on some weight pre-combine.. so ideally, Mason is about 10-15 lbs behind.

Lets just hope SL/GH work with Mason on getting under center some and allowing him to change the plays... this will go a long way in showing and helping him for the next level.
