Only game in town and the university " Supports" that team.

Unt is playing catch-up because of years of apathy in our administration toward athletics. We just have to hope with all the new hires by this university that things are changing and moving in the right direction. It took years for us to get to this point and this ship won't turn very fast.

7th straight national championship, only 3 losing seasons since 1964? I guess winning cures all and recruits want to have an opportunity to win above all else despite perceived shortcomings. Those shortcomings being a small market or small school, and playing in a less than prestigious conference. It’s encouraging to see because it just reinforces what many believe can happen at North Texas if it’s athletic programs start winning and winning consistently.

This is your answer. Kids in the Dakotas are tough and they are more FBS than FCS. And they are the only game in town, much like Boise State. There is no comparison between us and them.

When we compare ourselves to anyone, the only comparisons that really make sense are SJSU and maybe an F_U, schools connected to a major metro area but not that closely followed in said market, especially compared to the P5 schools that dominate their markets. Georgia State and Charlotte are probably looking at us as peers, too.

North Dakota has cheap booze and fast women.....or is fast booze and cheap women? Seriously, there are a lot of bars that have drive up windows and sell booze until they close at 2am. At least in the "Magic City"(Minot) they do.

In all honesty they are nice and very hard working people up there for the most part that love that team! The kids that could maybe have gone to play at Minnesota or even another major university may prefer the opportunity to be viewed as a "celebrity" playing at NDSU for 4 to 5 years instead of having to go compete elsewhere. I would imagine there may be a little bit of less than legal booster support as well.

Same reason kids go to Sam Houston, Stephan F., Mary Hardin Baylor,  Mount Union, James Madison and South Dakota State......You don't get any offers from an FBS conference school  because you don't fit the stereotype for whatever position or didn't play against quality opponents because you only went to a 2A or 3A high school in Texas. FCS is filled with LOTS of good football players. NDSU is just like Alabama and other top flight winning schools, winning programs recruit themselves.

So they're leaving the most money under the door mat.

Figured as much.

Rick

Well, if that is what it takes to win, you can bet we won’t ever pay to play that game, not that we have the cash to do that.
