Hilltopper Basketball has received its second verbal commitment in five days for the 2003-04 season. After a visit last weekend to Western's campus, 7', 295-pound senior Josh Higgins chose the Hilltoppers over the University of Washington, Illinois State, Evansville, and a few undisclosed teams from the MAC Conference. Higgins hordes the middle for Butler High School, just ten minutes north of Dayton. He led the Aviators to a 22-4 record as a junior, falling one game shy of the Ohio Final Four. Higgins had originally scheduled four other home visits, but canceled them all after picking the Tops. He plays lefthanded and is projected as a solid mid-range shooter with good touch, according to Vandalia's 35-year head coach Ray Zilotski. Citing the ongoing renovations of Diddle Arena as a major reason for selecting Western, Higgins looks forward to battling for playing time with recent Topper transfer Nigel Dixon from Florida State. With the Aviators, Higgins teams up with a fellow seven-footer inside, playing in the 4,000-seat Student Activities Center. He wants to pursue Criminal Justice with career aspirations of becoming a police officer.

Along with 6'4 guard Nick Hill (DuQuoin, IL), Higgins is Western Coach Dennis Felton's second recruit to verbally commit in two weeks.

Now for 2003, WKU has 6'11" Nigel Dixon, 7'2" Michael Doe, and this kid.
