Louisiana Tech can't be happy to see the terms of the contract as well as a name like Napier coming in.  Seems like a pretty good hire for the Cajuns.

Is that double Holtz money?

Thought this school was going broke! It looks like everybody is jockeying for the next re alignment!

I have never hear ULL was struggling financially, but we all know ULM is just treading water until they have to go back down to FCS levels again.

True, but I have been hearing predictions of ULM's demise since 2000 or earlier and they are still hanging around.

I think we can all agree that Charlotte was a bad add, ULL would have been much better. That said, given Louisianas (the state  not the school) financial troubles, I am indeed a bit surprised at this contract. But yes that is solid above average C-USA level stepping up.

More or less symbolic of the screwed up priorities right now.

No I don’t agree with that about Charlotte at all. Eventually they will get their football going. And it is a place you can readily fly to. Lafayette is, as with some CUSA teams, in the middle of nowhere. If you are a player, you rather go to Charlotte where there is NFL and Cam Newton instead of Lafayette LA.

The hunker down home mentality is disappointing.

Okay, I'll give you the "Charlotte can be flown to, lafayette is in the middle of nowhere" argument from a players/coaches perspective.

But Charlotte is still a bad add, even if you don't like going to Lafayette.First we already found out that market size has become meaningless at the G5 level, given that no G5 conference still has a tv contract worth much.

But otherwise for Charlotte: Less than 12k average attendance, only three seasons after moving up? Novelty has already worn off, and even when things go well the stadium has only 15k capacity which screams unwillingness to be serious about football. Add to that that the AD was too cheap to fire the HC after a 1-11 season with an FCS-loss on a FBS tenure that is 7-29. Charlotte was a bad add, foisted on C-USA by a ECU that left anyway. The worst part is, that that is not a hindsight bad add, it was completely foreseeable even at the time, that ECU would leave anyway.

I'd take Louisiana but only if they drop the "Lafayette" from their name. I'm tired of hyphenated schools. Sounds very minor league. :-)

Actually, athletically they identify themselves as "University of Louisiana."

But a lot of people here would be confused as to who we meant if we just referred to "Louisiana" or "UL."

Since the state supported shools rely heavily on state aid, I'm surprised that they have lasted this long.  Louisiana budget is a mess.
