I know that a lot of people do this anyway, but one day I would like to see "Glory to the Green and White" sung  A Capella by the home crowd.  The band could do it's usual intro/lead-in,  and then the crowd would take over from there.

As neat as that would be, I don't think there are enough people that actually know the words to the Alma Mater to make it work.

An air raid siren would be an interesting thing to do. Maybe have a fan chosen from the crowd to crank it up at the start of the 4th quarter. If another school has that already then disregard.

UNT had it during the Dodge days.

Great idea.

So, how did the GB do? Did they wow the Troy fans?

Not even close.

Its my suggestion that we approach the dept of music and ask they give us a football marching band...and if they refuse then uninvite them and create a new band that operates under the athletics umbrella.

Did that for awhile at Fouts. Don't remember why we stopped. As I recall, it was more along the lines of team taking the field, not tied to a particular point in the game. Those with better recall can help me out.

EDIT: I read a little further and saw this has already been answered. Nevermind.

SMU’s football band is associated with their athletic program and not associated with their music program. SMU has a good music program, but their marching band is lacking. I’d hate to see that much of a drop off at UNT.

What is the actual complaint against the band?  Has there been any formal communication with the band?  I would think communication is the key. If the music department thinks all is well, then they’ll keep doing what they’re doing.

If you attended the N.O. Bowl game you would have seen the VAST difference between a band that is there to promote school pride and spirit..(Troy).....and one that treats their halftime show as a stage event..(North Texas).

The stage performance is wonderfully performed by the best musicians around and would be great.....ON A STAGE.  We already have that over at the Dillo dome.  They are called the symphony and concert bands.

What we're lacking is a band geared towards promoting pride and school spirit called a FOOTBALL MARCHING BAND.
