It's amazing to think he's climbing those charts mostly on one season's worth of stats. He'll be #1 with just 2 season's worth by next year's end (if all goes well, obvs).

Makes me excited for the coming seasons as Fine's career stats shouldn't be insurmountable if we continue our offensive growth.

If he continues his current pace he may well go down as the best to ever sling it at North Texas, and I'm inclined to think he will.

With that said, what jumps out at me are Steve Ramsey's numbers and efficiency.

If you duplicate Fine's two full seasons of stats he will have 68 career passing touchdowns (1 less than Ramsey) on 1,436 attempts (287 more than Ramsey) and 898 completions (258 more than Ramsey).

Fine's TD to attempt ratio would be 1:21 (compared to 1:17 for Ramsey) and his TD to completion ratio would be 1:13 (compared to 1:9 for Ramsey).

Yep.  Ramsey's stats are very impressive.

The stats are amazing considering the "cold spells" he suffered through this past year.  Plus, with Martin coming on board, he will probably transfer out to SE Louisiana A&M Poly.

Not to diminish Fine's accomplishments--at all--but one great thing is that he has more than 1 or at most 2 go-to receivers on the field and available to him.  That's a huge bonus.

Plus, he has great touch on his deep throw and knows the playbook like the back of his hand.

Are you referring to him getting hurt last season?

Fine has done a remarkable job after just about a 1 1/2 years at the QB position. He will slaughter these records!

Crazy thinking here but "If" Fine stays healthy breaks all these records and sets the bar super high, will someone behind him come in and break any of these records he may potentially set? I know records are meant to be broken but will we ever have a 3-4 year starter at QB any time soon? Littrell will be gone relatively soon, IF all goes well and hopefully Harrell takes over the Captains Chair, these record setting performances could only be the begining

Ramsey was throwing to 2 NT HOF'ers: Barry Moore & Ronnie Shanklin as well.

Hope Fine can stay healthy, as I'd love to see him break the records of UNT's All-Century QB.

With the exception of Vizza, all the QBs listed were here through their senior year.  Projecting 2 more full seasons plus that this season is not yet over, I would expect Mason Fine to own every North Texas QB record by the end of his career here.

The sooner Giavonni Vizza's name is left off the QB record sheet the better I'll like it.

Best Troy

I’m not sure I understand the question.  I’m just saying that looking at where Vizza sits on the career stats after only playing for UNT in 2007-08, he’d likely be #1 in most/all categories if he hadn’t quit, opening the door for little Dodge to step in.

For a couple of years, Ramsey also dumped off to our first 1K rusher Leo Taylor.

Keep in mind that Steve Ramsey's numbers were accomplished in three years. Freshman were not allowed to play varsity ball back in Steve Ramsey's days.

And since he was a juco transfer,  all of Vidal Carlins were accomplished in two.

And ho-hum, it doesn't hurt that the original Mean Green defense was continually putting the ball in his hands!

Oops, I was lasered in on Mason. Vizza could have been one of if not the top QB had he stayed all four years.

....AND for one of those years all of our opposing QB's had to be seriously in fear of their health, with Joe Greene and Cedric Hardman glaring at them from across the line.

This is all true unless Shanbour comes in next year and beats him out...

Sorry...had to after all the fall camp talk

The only way Shanbour beats out Fine is if Fine's throwing hand gets cut off....at this point.

Your not going to be laughing about Shanbour if (God forbid) something happens to Fine in the bowl game.  Your going to be real glad he's there.

Vizza would have gotten killed if he stayed longer.  Dodge would have leaned on him until he could not get up anymore...

I know...I was just making a joke about all the fall talk at the beginning of camp

No, I think Shanbour may be the best backup QB UNT has had since at least the Dodge era.

That said, I just rewatched the last 2 minutes of the 2017 UTSA game and no sane person wants Shanbour to start over Fine at this point. Unless they are UTSA fans maybe.

And he did it without an OL. Always loved Vizza.
