Recruiting Class

It appears we will have 16 committed, and I guess signing next Wednesday.  We currently have 14 listed, the former Trinity DE/LB and supposedly one more out there.  The class breakdown is as follows:

QB:  Two HS

RB:  One JUCO

WR: One HS

ATH: Two HS

TE:  None

OL:  Three HS OG's

DE:  Two JUCO's

DT:  One HS

LB:  Two HS, one ILB and one OLB

CB:  None

S:  One HS with another waiting to announce.

P:  None

K:  None

 

How do we fill the remaining 4 or 5 spots?

Williams, Gibbs, Crosby. All HS

I think we say 2 guards. One I am not sure is still committed. 

I think we grab another WR/TE for sure and a linebacker and another defensive lineman.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us keep a scholarship or to to possible use on a grad transfer oline,Dline or linebacker.

...One of the Jucos also played some linebacker...1 OT 2 DT 1LB

Gibbs and Crosby are ATH, Davis (if he commits) and Williams are the S. Gibbs could be put on offense (GMG24) has said.. no one is sure where Crosby ends up

I can see Gibbs playing Safety, Corner, or WR for us.  He's got a lot of versatility.

Just remember they all do not have to sign next week.  I heard rumors that only 30-40 % of recruits will sign early.

It will be really interesting to see how this works out. If they have committed and do not sign do we jerk the offer? Why would we not?

We need quality defensive tackles and linebackers.  And a quality 215# RB would be nice too.

Why would you pull an offer because a kid doesn't want to sign early?

If he committed why would he not sign? Waiting for a better offer would be the only reason. Also if we threaten to pull or sign another guy maybe he signs.

True, but I was basing the breakdown on a report earlier that stated Gibbs and Crosby were recruited more as athletes, and that they both, Gibbs for sure, end up on offense.

Question:  Does anyone know exactly how many scholarships we have to give this year?

Should be around 18-20.. 

We had 5 blue-shirts (BS) last year, and then 3 signees/ BS didn’t make it in J. King, Tibbs, the JUcO Punter.. We added Kensworthy, RJ Reynolds, and not sure if we added anyone else..
