There were some scandals I believe players cheating on exams etc that occurred under his watch and I think the stink of that had an impact.  They tried to blame it on the assistants but in this day and age that is a harder thing to pull off.

After posting, I did see that ULL received sanctions for whatever happened.  That does change things.
