Would you really be missing out on anything big by not staying at the team hotel? What do you guys think about staying at the team hotel vs somewhere potentially cheaper?

You just miss out on more of the whole bowl and team hoopla if you don't stay at the team hotel.    I did it both ways back in the 2000's, definitely more fun staying at the team hotel.  A lot more going on, ran into a lot more MG fans, university people, players and a very entertaining/uncomfortable ride in the elevator with George D.  Feels a lot more like being a part of the whole thing.

I booked Hilton Riverside yesterday on Priceline for $94.00.

whoa.  So much for Hilton guaranteeing the best rate if you book direct.

Is that just for Saturday night?  I found that rates are much higher for the week ending Fri night than Sat / Sun - and not just for Hilton properties.  Can't figure out why - there are no major conventions that week, and in N.O., I'd expect weekends to be more expensive.

please share with the class your experience in this elevator.

lets just say there was some day drinking going on with a group of my friends that happened to get on the elevator at the same time as Jub Jub, some attempted conversation (more like failed/attempted Ticket jokes that I don't quite recall at this point) with Jub Jub on the elevator and he was clearly not amused.  Not that I blame him.  His polite forced smile eventually turned to what I interpreted as an oh great I am stuck in an elevator with a bunch of drunk guys look.   I am pretty sure that elevator ride lasted 30 minutes.
