If you make the trip, do more than the bowl game.   NO is not everyone's cup of tea, but I would recommend taking the time to try it out.  Hotels are a bit pricey on the weekends in the quarter, but a lot less further out.

New Orleans and back the same day?

Boo.  New Orleans is a bowl destination city for a reason.  Soak it in or wipe if off your shoes or probably both.

Flying out early Saturday morning.  I'm pretty fortunate this time since my brother lives in NOLA and lives only about 15 mins from downtown.  I'll crash at his place and I'll drive back with him the next day since he was planning on doing that anyways.

For any of you that has the opportunity NOLA is a great place so you should definitely try to stay there a few days. Lot of great places to go and see and walk around.

Not kidding when I say I had one of the most fun 2 days of my life in new orleans, make it at least a one night stay. I was pissed when I originally saw the projection because I saw us potentially beating Texas or Tech, but now, especially with the lack of respect by that sun belt team I want to run them out of the building with some great Cajun food, also my birthday weekend.

But Shreveport isn’t? Then why would P5s want to play in it...

I know....me too x4 during the bowl years and a handful of times for biz and pleasure.   Just hoping that first-timers or second-timers don't miss out on a fun trip to an historically significant U.S. city.

Word of advice to those who are there for Friday night and are of drinking age.  Pace yourself and don't consume too much.  Game time will come earlier than you think Saturday and we need everyone feeling well, enjoying the game and screaming their heads off.  You don't want to miss this one because you can't get out of your hotel room.

Don’t do this. Leave at 2 a.m, 10 hr drive, 4 hr game, 10 hr drive.

And miss the party on Bourbon Street before and after the game, while not having diner at some of the best restaurants in the world.

Get Brad Olson to do the driving and he'll get you there in half the time.

If hotel rates are the issue, you could stay in Covington for less then $100/night and take the Causeway into N.O.
