Maybe.  This team was 1-11 two years ago, and won five last year.  Still a lot of good things going on.

If Junior/Senior Mason Fine gets help from other spots on this team, that will be a conference champion level team.

My only question is how does fau do it in one year.  We need expediency to help make the West competitive.  The east looks to be miles ahead right now and set to be there for awhile.  Championships in boca and Miami for years to come.

P5 transfers, and Florida athletes better than no offer Tx and ok football players. Simple.

Previous coach was a good recruiter well.  They had the talent just not the gameplan.

It revealed that we were very fortunate to win some very close games this year and also that we have a ways to go in order to compete and win CUSA Titles. Despite todays disappointment it was a fun year and I am grateful to the players and coaches. Go Mean Green! Come back bigger, stronger and faster next year.

Simple. They have always been able to recruit good players and have high ranked CUSA recruiting classes. They just never had a decent coaching staff. Now, well above average coaching staff + continuous good recruiting = Oct. 21st & Dec. 2nd.

Never underestimate good recruiting, never.

They did it by hiring a coach who has skins on the wall as a head coach and can get offensive talent to follow him.

- Florida has the best HS talent in the nation. Hard pill, but pretty undeniable.

- Kiffin is a hell of an offensive mind and a name coach.

- They're willing to take chances on character issues and deal with the consequences.

- FAU has always recruited well.

I’ve felt for awhile that we were a 6-6 team that won 9 games. We will get better each year because we are young but we need better tackling and better linemen. I still intend to cheer us on in NO.

Have y’all not seen last chanc u? We get rid of character problems, they welcome them.

How Seth attracts the "next level" talent is going to be the biggest question.  in a lot of cases, not most, BUT A LOT...the top player in the area are going to come with baggage, attitudes, cockiness, overrate themselves, hard to coach, etc.

People on here diss McCarney and teased him for saying it is hard to recruit at UNT, but i don't see much difference.  The 1-11 is going to continually get thrown around, but there was obviously talent there.  Seth just upgraded the QB position from horrible to quality and the wins came.  looking at the pipeline, im not seeing an increase in talent from the McCarney teams.

Because there hasn't been any. Literally, 0 upgrade. If anything, there has been an actual downgrade. And God forbid these 1 possession wins start turning into losses like they easily can.

All he has to do is HIRE a big time recruiter.  You have to pay for that but it is totally doable.

Well they should have a DC opening potentially.. time to open up the wallets and bring in an ace DC and recruiter...

SL/WB needs to go to donors and say we need x amount to get xyz for us to take the next step

2 stars to 3 stars eh not much diff. Team chemistry matters. Especially when talent is even. That’s where coaching makes a huge difference.  Look how bad the Tee Goree sucks now

This could't be further from the truth. Not all 2 stars are =, just like not all 3 stars are =. And FAU has landed way, way, way more 3* than UNT has in the past 2 or 3 classes.

Guyton  and Fine are major upgrades.  The offensive system was a big upgrade.  Thats about it.

Defensive coaching and scheme is a huge downgrade.  Players that showed flashes of talent like our secondary has looked horrible.

Mac needed a new OC and offense.  Mac still wouldn't have survived cause Skladany was gone, but at least Skladany had a handle on who to recruit to run HIS system.  Ref ain't even close and im afraid the system he runs we won't be able to recruit the players to run it.  We are going to need 3 star level talent at corner, safety, and linebacker to pull off a 3-3-5.
