Hey Nostradamus... thanks for telling us that if we don’t recruit better on defense things will be bad!!!  How could anyone who’s watched the program have had that insight?

Uhh the fans that said we are playing young guys on defense and that we are still “adjusting to the system” on defense...

This recruiting season will be huge.  Littrell can’t blow this season’s success the way Coach Mac did after the 2013 season.  We HAVE to capitalize on this to gain traction in recruiting.  To say we haven’t made progress in recruiting is irresponsible; we have brought in some nice players.  However, a few good recruits won’t change a program.  Winning changes a program.  To compete with better programs we need better players at most positions. That won’t happen without winning. For a lot of the kids that we bring in we are their only option or the last resort.  Even the best recruiter would struggle to get the kids we need when you’re selling a program that has a history of losing.  THIS IS THE KIND OF SEASON that can change that!!! Be positive. We are on the uptick and now we get to sell a culture change to recruits.  Two consecutive bowl games will really help.  Remember, you build a program. It doesn’t just show up.  We are further ahead than where most thought we’d be when we brought in SL and GH.  I would expect us to have a similar type season next year give or take a couple of games in the wrong direction but 2019 should really good if, and it’s a big if, we can leverage this year’s success.  We’ve made progress.  You’re crazy to think we haven’t.

@Ben Gooding Our coaching staff reminds of Jason Garrett. No emotion, little to no risk when your back is against the wall, nothing but coach speak. Funny thing is, the Cowboys were 13-3 last year but won so many games by close scores and off last minute drives. Look at them this year - young but on the wrong side of those close games due to a younger defense and exposed offense (injuries and suspensions haven't helped). Although I think both teams have hope, I expect UNT to follow the same path next season as they fall on the losing side of those close games. The law of averages will catch up unless we get some big transfers or recruits ready to play. I think there's hope for the future but I wouldn't be surprised to see us finish closer to 6-6 if we can't replace some of these veterans on defense and get more depth on the offrnsive line.

It's similar to their success and our's. Minimal margin for error is kind of the biggest thing I see. There is no way we keep winning these kinds of games. The pole smokers, er, dreamers will think we will somehow keep doing, but that's not reality.  We have to bulk up the defensive side of the ball. It worries me for a few reasons that we won't be able to. 1) An air raid type of offense has never been able to really stock and play defensive talent 2) We at UNT have never really been able to land constant quality talent of any position outside of RB 3) This staff has not shown the capability of recruiting at a high level. But the UNT dreamers will keep dreaming.

I said 6-6 this year. Partly because I didn't want to be disappointed and partly I watched the UTEP game last year a few times.

I don't mind losing. That's nothing. I hate, and I mean absolutely hate not being competitive. It's a bad look for everyone involved. And when there is a what looks to be a blatant disregard for competitiveness from this team while the coaching staff shows the passion of a peewee coaching staff, I expect serious questions to be asked and answered. Problem at UNT is that there are NEVER serious questions asked OR answered. It's just the whole, "welp, We gave it a good college try" from the administration, reporters, AND fans. And it's a load of BS.

BS. Just because SL doesn't rant and rave on the sideline doesn't mean he doesn't show passion. I bet he showed passion at halftime and after the game. He just choose to not look like an idiot, ala Kiffin. Trust me, he was seething on the sideline and will correct what is wrong.

I have heard and read where Kiffin praised FAU's previous staff for the players they left behind. Trust me, McCarney's lack of recruiting is showing and creates a bigger hill to climb for SL and staff than what Kiffin has encountered.

1. I have watched several of SL's halftime, pre-game, and post-game speeches. They're below average, at best.

2. The best coaches rant and rave on the sideline at their players. It's just what they do. Coaching never stops, game or practice.

3. If acting like Kiffen on the sideline gets Littrell Kiffen's results, then act like Kiffen on the sideline.

4. FAU previous staff(s) have left good players for them. It states just so on 247recruiting, the same results you belittle and try to ignore.

5. McCarney and Seth Littrell recruiting classes are par with each other. An argument COULD be made that McCarney's classes are a bit better actually.

I don't report people. I'm a, uh, man.

The stop complaining about people being mean to you and hurting your feelings.

I've already told you privately, mods don't see every post.  If someone breaks the rules against you report it or on't complain.  Don't complain if someone reports you for breaking the rules.  Especially, don't complain about how you are treated by the mods.

Not complaining. Just pointing out name calling and I am being called out by a mod for pointing out name calling by another poster....I...just...whatever you say man. The pendulum must swing both ways...I love pointing that out. People can take their shots toward me. I can assure you it means nothing to me personally, I just like pointing out the injustices and incompetence.

Recruiting has sucked forever. It isn’t getting fixed either until we beat people that recruits and coaches in TX HS care about. Hint, FAU isn’t one of those teams either. To most kids, when they see the score tonight, they just assume we got beat by an airport team.

Again, in our SBC run and the two other seasons we’ve won 9 games, we didn’t beat anyone that grabbed attention from non-UNT fans. Until that gets fixed, recruiting here ain’t getting this huge FAU like boost. We don’t toe the line of probation like FAU and UTSA have done.

So after I tell you to not complain about how the mods handle things, you have to call how they handle things an injustice and incompetence.

Take a couple weeks off.

If you told me NT would play in the CUSA title game at the beginning of the year I’d say straight up you’re full of bull doodoo. Yeah, it would’ve been nice to be competitive but it is what it is.

I wouldn't say that is always the case.  I've seen plenty of more of the cerebral kinds of coaches succeed.  Not everyone is a Pete Carrol who is always storming around the sideline.

Deny all bowls. Sit at home today. This team, just for the October 21st and December 2nd showings deserve nothing. Thank you for your contributions to this program, but good luck.

Why are you the way that you are?  I hate so much about the things that you choose to be...

The guy has a right to his opinion. You have the right to ignore it. I certainly don't agree with everything he says or especially how he says it. But I do believe he has the right to express his views.

I'm sure you will be glad to hear he may have been banned for a few weeks after apparent rules violations in another thread. I can't find that thread anymore. I guess it was deleted.

Played a ton of true freshman and sophomore? Lol outside of the the skill positions we only had 2 play in Hambone and Khari..

I won't include skill positions since you want to be like this tonight.

Most important position on field

QB: So

RB: RS Freshman

backup RB True Freshman

WR: Bussey So, Lawrence So, White Freshman, Darden Freshman, Guyton RS Sophomore (never played a snap at ND) first D1 game action he's had is this year, RS Freshman Hair-Griffin, didn't remember seeing Pirtle today so I'll leave him off the list.

H: RS SO Kelvin Smith, RS SO Caleb Chumley

Center: RS SO first year of D1 ball Sosaia Mose

RG: RS SO Elex Woodworth

Defense:

Safety: SO Muhammad

Corner: JR first D1 ball this year Kemon Hall

LB: RS JR first D1 ball this year Ejiya

DL: SO Hamilton

all the kids you're looking at next year for DL are freshman this year most of which we burned their RS bc of depth issues.

4 non skill guys out and Hamilton and Khari that I named..

My point, that this is not a young team outside of the skilled spots and we are losing a # of very important SR with no idea who to replace them..
