Quit talking about "If we lose this week..." 

We cannot lose this week. We are not near the apex of the mountain. We are still crawling through the foothills. Losing to a 1-10 uninterested Rice team would put us close to sea level. Can't lose this game.

Any team can lose to a 1-10 Rice team -- even losing to them doesn't really negate the good of this season. But it wouldn't help, which I think is your point.

From a perception standpoint, it would be far worse than what happened in Boca a few weeks ago. Good teams that call themselves good teams don't lose to 1-10 teams. It wouldn't take away the good that has happened, but it would put a sour taste in everyone's mouth, turn people off on bowl attendance, and local and regional media would drop their eyebrow that has been raised by the team.
