Great loooking, wish they could have found a way to do vs UTEP but know it likely would not have matched/gone well with the uniform that game.

It's the same uniform but with a white helmet instead of green.

I think a star spangled eagle looks better that a star spangled pony or UH or ATM any day.  But the photo makes the helmet look like an afterthought.

Win.

By the way, if you are loving the new equipment, don't forget to give a shout out to our new Assistant Athletic Director for Equipment Services Mike Villa.

Wren hired him away from UTSA, and they are still bitter about it.

I'm going to assume the answer is no, but I will ask it anyway... Has any of the new/current helmets been made into "mini" helmets to be bought at the team store?

I'm going to email/tweet at WB to see if he can/could find a way for them to be become available.. feel like they could be a nice a little Christmas gift

we had a lengthy chat about this in the MGN slack wherein I beat everyone down with take after take. Let me summarize my thought more succinctly here:

I think there is a less tacky way to actually honor the military, and not so blatantly tie it into a marketing gimmick.*  I'd go with a uni patch and maybe some discounted tickets. By changing our helmet/logo at all we are by definition asking for more attention and so taking it away from the group we say we are honoring, ya?

*Not that I am opposed to gimmicks, even cheap ones.

Totally agree. At best it's just a corny trend. At worst, it's using the flag as a marketing ploy. Give free/discounted tickets to active duty/veterans or donate to a cause. Changing the logo is just lip service in my opinion.

I posted my objections when a tweet showed several of our players dressed in flags. I know everyone does this now but there is a U.S. Code which addresses this. Do other teams alter their uniforms to reflect a patriotic theme when they play a service academy?

I must admit the only time I was ashamed of our university was when one of our players mocked the cadets by saluting them after a big play at the game at West Point. I hope we offered them a formal apology.

Does each helmet configuration actually mean a separate helmet or are these just covers for existing helmets.  I know before the HoD game in 2014 the carbon fiber was just a wrap.  Is this the case or does each player have 5 or 6 helmets ?

There are four helmets: White, Black, Chrome, and Green. They have just been interchanging the decals on the helmets. Makes it seem like you have 8 different helmets but it's just different decals on the same helmets

Yep yep yep. Would much rather see a patch.
