Find this very sad because a win at UTEP would have made team bowl eligible  without having to backdoor into a bowl because of GPA. Hope the coaching staff gets the team fired up to clinch CUSA West

I believe the news had already come down that they were going to be bowl eligible anyway due to APR & lack of eligible teams before the game started.   I think they had that security blanket, and thus, didn't really care.

I just worry about that part”the big lead.”  That’s code for “these fans want some drama need some drama Fine needs to have another highlight reel damn it!”

For me the story line and the drama is this:

A good team handles business against bad teams. NT let ODU hang around and make that closer than it should have been. UTEP is way worse than ODU. A good team should handle UTEP the way WKU handled NT in Bowling Green last year. Show no mercy, take every advantage and have the young guys in by the 4th quarter.

True, NT is not good enough to take this team lightly, but a focused, intense NT is better than this UTEP team that has checked out and wants no part of a tough game (like 2015 NT post McCarney, after UTSA).

How lopsided does a North Texas win need to be to garner national attention?  That, my friends, should be the goal.

Against arguably the worst team in the country this year, it's really a no-win situation.

You beat them by 70, you're the 200 pound bully beating up on the 98 pound weakling who's three grades below you.

Lose to them, and you just got your ass kicked by the 98-pound weakling's 11-year-old sister.

I say we should run our system like we would any other game. The goal shouldn't be to run up the score but at the same time, it is up to UTEP to stop us. If they do, good for them (and bad for us, right?). If they don't ... well, UTEP is in for a long day and we're in for a fun evening of football.

I don't doubt that neither the coaches nor the players have forgotten what happened last year and should be focused on the game at hand and what it will take to win the game. After watching the presser yesterday, Littrell knows that any team can defeat us if we don't take them seriously and it sounded like he's taking the game quite seriously.

I have no particular dislike for UTEP.  I spent so much time in El Paso during my former life that I must've gotten Juarez syndrome -- I grew to kinda like the place.

Now then, teams I would do dirty:

UTSA -- I'd introduce them to entirely new and unforeseen uses for chicken thigh grease

SMU -- Wanna play cornhole on the Boulevard?  Here, bend over while I break out my lucky horseshoe.

Any team coached by Lane Kiffin -- Hey boy!  Who's a good boy!  C'mere boy!  Wanna treat big fella?  I got a one-way ticket to South Bend!  C'mon big fella!  Oooohhh.  You want some belly rubs on the tarmac?

UNT has to put their foot on UTEP's throat and keep it there.  I don't think UTEP will lay down for this game.

I think the only reason they would is that they don't have a Todd Dodge fighting to keep his job.  Not sure how motivating a temporary Mike Price fix, who's talking publicly about how gawdawful his team is, will be.

I agree.  UNT needs to be physical with them and get a couple of quick scores and make them quit.

I agree with you about keeping our foot on their throat, but I do believe they'll have thrown the towel in by halftime after we're up 21+ pts.

i doubt it.  I bet if we build a strong lead SL will play more backups because we don't want anyone to get hurt down the stretch.

Our backups will only continue to run it down their throats.  Nick Smith will have a big day, just in the 2nd half.
