The Mean Green are now in the West Division driver's seat with a ticket to the C-USA championship game on the line in this Homecoming clash.

The fellas dug deep and fought hard against a good LATech team on the road to get the win last week.  It wasn't pretty on offense, but it wasn't ugly either.   A banged-up Wilson picked up 165yds and 2 TDs as the run game rolled in Ruston.  The defense played well & held again when the game was on the line.  The Special Teams didn't suck!  It was almost the complete game we were all looking for.

I think that perfect storm happens this week.
The offense is going to come out and strike quickly & often through the air.   The defense, recalling the beatdown they took last year in El Paso, is going to lock down the inept Miners offense.  The Miners have only scored 31 combined points in the 4 games played since Kugler stepped down & Price took over.
I expect something like 28-7 at halftime.
The second half will be the Wilson/Smith/Johnson/(and yes, Tucker!) show as the Mean Green just grind down the poor Miners.

This will be a huge beatdown to the bloodthirsty delight of a pretty nice-sized Homecoming crowd.

Vegas has us as a 23.5 favorite.   It ain't gonna be that close.

Final:
UNT - 45
UTEP - 14

Bonus Prediction: Homecoming crowd of 25,100 on what is being forecast as a beautiful day for football.

You're predicting they're going to score more points in this game than they have in the past 4 games combined... against WKU, SoMiss, UTSA, & MT?    Our defense is really that bad?

in short yes our defense is that bad until they show they can stop someone. Better against a depleted La Tech, but some of the triple coverage pass receptions were disconcerting.

Let's take a look at conference play.

In two games we allowed a gross amount of offensive points to FAU (69) and UAB (43).

In the other 4 conference games, we've allowed an average of 25 ppg of offense. So that excludes the two KO returns (since we're talking defense here).

And we don't triple cover anyone.
