My assessment:  FAU has a bigger, stronger, faster and more athletic football team than we do right now and it showed on the scoreboard and stat sheet.   We lost the turnover battle.  Our most dynamic receiver was completely shut down.  We need to tackle instead of jumping on the ball carrier's back and going for a ride.  I'm not sure even if we were completely focused and played mistake free we would have been able to hang with the FAU team we saw Saturday night.  Clearly our players and coaches still have a lot of work to do.

This.

Crazy part is we may still be an 8-4 team with our schedule.  Even if we finish 8-4, 7-5...this is still an average team and a coaching staff that is still learning.  We will be at a disadvantage against any team or coach that does anything well.

We have one guy that could most likely make most teams starting roster and that is guyton.  Thats it.

No need to panic at this point cause average is an upgrade for now.

Someone mentioned the "athletic council" and their whereabouts.  True.  These guys were supposed to be the leaders of the team, responsible probably many things.  One of which would be to get/keep the players fired up.

Sounds like the athletic council leaders were the first in line at the pool party.

Then we'll just have a ton of knee jerk "WE'RE GOING TO GO 9-3!!!1!" threads...

Anything would be an improvement over what the board is right now.

This has been, by a mile, the easiest schedule we have had since we moved up to I-A in 1995. Lamar, SMU, Iowa (weakest bodybag opponent we've played ever) and Army for OOC. FAU and ODU in the East. And a very mediocre CUSA West. Its very possible to get 6 or 7 wins this year and for our 6 wins to be over mostly tomato cans. UTSA, USM, and UAB look incredibly average at the moment, while FAU looks like a program on the rise in the G5, as they begin to separate themselves in CUSA play.

But even if it plays out this way, the improvement shown so far has been solid from last year and light years from 2015.
