Late three propels UNT past Ark.-Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Jerome Rogers hit a 3-pointer with 31 seconds left to break a tie and lift North Texas over Arkansas-Little Rock, 82-77, on Thursday night at Alltel Arena.

The win pushed UNT (8-8) to 3-1 in Sun Belt play. The Mean Green has not started 3-1 in conference play since 1994-95.

UNT and No. 19 Mississippi State are the only visiting teams to beat UALR (9-8, 3-2).

The Mean Green has won three in a row, a feat it last accomplished in January of the 2001-02 season.

Rogers made sure UNT reached that mark by scoring the Mean Green's last seven points. The senior finished with 18 points and was one of five UNT players to score in double figures.

"I am very comfortable taking the last shot in a game," Rogers said. "I just wanted to get the win. I was feeling it."

Brandon Freeman led UALR with 25 points.
