I dusted off some old design skills and put it on a shirt.

Side story:  

North Texas beat Tennessee...Vols  fire their (then) HFC Bill Battle; Battle turns that  🍋 into lemonade & creates College Licensing...then he rides off into the  🌅 a jillion'aire. (It's almost like a Walt Disney movie.

Yeah there were a number of 'FINE' puns I considered but as @drex said, I didn't want to be bitten. Still, donating a portion of the proceeds to the MGC so eventually they'll get a cut.

yeah i was (and am) torn on it but i wanted to err on this side. At least a couple of folks thus far have liked it with a purchase so I’m feeling better.

You made the right call.  This way it embraces the full team effort and doesn't single out MF.  I know we're okay with that, but overall it's better this way, and it's likely the only way MF would accept the shirt.

I don't think you'll ever have a problem with licensing as long as you don't use UNT's marks.  TIFWIW, but I wouldn't worry about legal goons after seeing that shirt.
