The Miracle in the Desert, when UNT Hall of Fame quarterback Scott Hall hit George Marshall for a 32-yard touchdown with 18 seconds left to give the Mean Green a win against New Mexico State in 2001, ranks up there as well.

We lost that game three different times........but still won.

NMSU, with the lead and pounding the defense inside to run the clock out (instead of just kneeling on it)...got greedy and fed it one more time to their RB.  Suddenly,  Craig Jones comes flying in from Santa Fe and knocked that bastard out..and the bal went straight up and we recovered.

Then while trying to move the ball on the drive..and facing a 3rd (or 4th) and 10.....Scott Hall hands off on a sweep to the right, he then runs 12 yards down field.  The WR with the ball running right, pulls up short of the LOS and throws a high pass over the middle and Hall goes up for it and gets high/low'ed, flips lands on his head and shoulders but hangs onto the ball.  1st down and the drive continued.

Then with the ball at the 32 yard line, no time outs and the clock ticking down, Hall throws down the left hand side line to what looked like a pass that was surely headed out of bounds, but Marshall catches it but it looked like he's also way out of bounds to the point that the near side safety gave up on the pass(I remember thinking "Damn..he's out of bounds).., but he wasn't and dances into the endzone...BALL GAME!

Best party with friends at some restaurant that stayed open fairly late in El Paso ever, and best 12 hour drive home.

That made it extra special.  Lots of demons exorcised last night.  They may still hold the wins edge but we are a team that grabbed their heart and threw it all the way back to south Texas.

Rivalry fuel for sure.

Go Mean Green!!!!!
