Well, it is SB BS Nation after all...

Their updated rankings.

USM now at 31 (up 18)

UTSA now at 45 (up 18)

but we only improve 15 spots to 65 after beating both of these teams.

The deal with that is that preseason projections play a role in ranking. Throughout the season that plays a lesser role. Right now it’s around 30% of your ranking. Our preseason projection was BAAAAAAAD. Also, our defense hasn’t been statistically that strong, especially at the beginning of the season.

And UTSA lost two weeks in a row? 

It is obviously  a crazy flawed system,  and blows.

North Texas beats both of those teams and yet we are still ranked behind them? Screw metrics we beat them plain and simple.

No biggie...we have been "outrecruited" by them and made the "worse hire."  Figures we are also ranked lower after beating their ass in finger lickin' good fashion

They have UTSA above San Diego St.  That in and of itself shows how ridiculous this poll is.

This is correct, also they really don't care much about teams outside the top 25 and aren't p5 teams unfortunately.

I agree.  How did they improve 18 spots after their second loss and another week deeper where pre-season rankings aren’t supposed to count as much.  We put a dent in their defensive stats as well.  If it’s supposed to be strictly computer based, I don’t understand any way that works....and if it’s human error...I also don’t understand how that works.

Too bad they didn't play the Houston game.  That loss could have pushed them into the Top 25.

John Whisler, he of "UTSA IS GOING 11-0!!!1!111!!!ELEVENTY-ONE!" fame, seems to have believed that UTSA deserved to be ranked in September.

That pretty well sizes it up, Rowdy. 

The UTSA fans I saw at Apogee were good sports post-loss.  

Some of us were saying last week the team that scored last wins that game.

They were largely quiet, walking through a gauntlet of student led "Long drive down 35!" taunts.  

I worked hard to keep my mouth shut, but I did remark to my daughter, "I'm going to be a good sport, but they earned this taunting."

I heard one couple say something along the lines of "Well, I guess you win when you cheat," to someone who I'm going to guess may very well have been a family member of a UNT player.  That didn't go so well for the UTSA couple.

Ridiculous?  That is kind.  This reeks of a dirty back room trick.

We had a loud semi-annoying UTSA fan in section 106.   However, he was a good sport when he was heckled.
