Sure, she's a woman in a role that has been dominated by men. But he didn't point that out - he specifically called out her talking x's and o's which is a question of ability within the context of being "female" which is what the subject of his statement was.

I agree with this for sure.   A lesson I'm sure he (along with every other professional athlete who is watching) has learned.

I honestly don't believe Cam Newton thinks, Women CAN NOT understand football/route-running... which would be sexist for sure, and his tone would have been different while answering.

I'm betting he thinks more along the lines of, Women DO NOT understand football/route-running, generally... which would be accurate... because women, in-general, don't care about such things.  So, to hear a female reporter that he may not be very familiar with (She's been with that paper less than a year) ask him that kind of question, probably surprised him, and he just spoke in stream-of-consciousness, as he always has, and it bit him hard.

Of course, I could be wrong, and he's a total mysoginistic a-hole.    His apology video didn't sound that way.

Here is my bad statement for the day.  The women officials in CUSA are not very good.  Then again some of the male officials are bad.  They don't seem to as flag happy this year then last year.

We find things to laugh at all the time--we don't necessarily to it to mock or ridicule, but life is more enjoyable when you can find the humor in it.  In the past, women reporters had probably asked him about his personal life and his fashion sense, so it caught him a little off guard when she asked him about the receiver's physicality in his route running.  So he laughed.  He then may have felt obligated to explain why he laughed, when he probably should have left out the explanation and answered the chick's question.

I don’t think it’s a big deal. It was definitely blown way out of proportion. 

Kinda like the female football announcer that used to say “The Counter Tray” all the time. Does she even know what the hell a counter tray is and how it’s actually a counter trap??? Rant off.....
