Something needs to be on the line for this to be a rivalry.  In 2013, there was and we choked.  But really, playing this team reminds me of getting our butts whipped by Howard Schnellenberger's early FAU teams, or that time we played South Florida when they were a transitional team but kicked our butts again.  Or  back when Troy was in their transitional year and they beat us.

To me, it's really just totally depressing losing to these types of schools.  That's not a rivalry.  It's embarrassing.  Now, eventually that will wear off as they get more years under their belts.  If they can regularly finish in the top quarter of the conference, and we do as well, and we play later in the season with something on the line?  Sure....but for now, it's still too early.

Kudos to Wren for trying.  I'm not sure we needed to give them anymore more motivation, though.  Seems they are always motivated against us, anyway.

If it takes a quote from the visiting team's AD to get your team motivated for a game like this, it's going to be a long day.

But is gasoline on a fire a good thing?

If anything, I hope Wren learned a valuable lesson about off-the-cuff banter being recorded/recalled and flipped (by some of his own, sadly) to provide ammunition to an opponent's fans.  It can happen at any time.  Watch your words at all times in your position, sir.
