Mean Green vs. USM: A Postmortem in GIFs!

How about that game, eh? Not only did we get away with committing murder on a football field, but I'm here to supply the gifs so you can relive it.

This is the best defense we face all year. At least, they're supposed to be. Jeff Wilson is faster than every guy on that field. 

I literally had to compress this gif into ten seconds and leave out the snap because JW ran for so long. Nobody even makes him stumble. He kept his footing and easily ran for 50 yards past everyone. The cornerback at the bottom of the field seems to have given up on the play, but all ten other defenders clearly at least tried to do SOMETHING to halt him from hauling ass. It didn't work.

I hope we try this play more often. I know Guyton is on fire right now but we have two or three other receivers speedy enough to run that quick out rout in the end zone. Even with a blitz, Fine easily gets a pass off. This play just works. I love this call on 2nd and goal. 

HE IS A SOPHOMORE. Fine decides to throw it while Guyton is still pretty tightly covered. Doesn't matter. Guyton makes that catch 4/5 times.

Personally, I consider this the biggest win of Seth Littrell's tenure and maybe the biggest UNT football win since Rice 2013. Show up for the UTSA game. This team is good. REALLY good. We're getting better every week and a win over UTSA would cement us as frontrunners in the CUSA west heading into the meat of our schedule. Mason Fine, Jeffrey Wilson and Jalen Guyton are some of the most electric playmakers North Texas football has ever had. I want Apogee sold out for this matchup. What was your favorite play from the USM game? Anything you want to discuss?

CUSA could only edit what Southern Miss provided.  They couldn't use the full footage of the play from the feed because the Southern Miss homer commentators instantly were saying that it wasn't a touchdown, which would have screwed with the highlight real.

Correct. It's a bummer, but oh well.

One thing I noticed from your clips is how damn good a blocker Kelvin Smith is down the field.  What a gem he has been for the program.  And he's only a sophomore?

He has been playing out of his mind the last few games. He seems to be getting better each week.
