I think giving team rings is a great idea.  The players are more apt to wear the rings over the course of their lives than the watches.  Also, more people will ask them about the ring which gives creates more opportunities for North Texas to have some positive exposure of it's athletics.

It's certainly a good way to get ex players back on campus, keeping them engaged with UNT Athletics. Kudos to whoever made this happen.

This. Better late than never.

I love all of these little different things Wren is organizing.  It cannot just be about the game. Wins help but fun and interesting builds anticipation and loyalty.

For example have a Latin American game.  Make it Mexico focused and have it in the middle of September.  Celebrate heritage day and have some traditional foods and dances.  But you can't just have the day without the relationships. Have a TWU day in October celebrating women and fighting breast cancer. Have a thanksgiving drive or storm relief support day for our friends in Beaumont and others affected by Harvey Irma and Maria.

The battle flag giveaway gets butts in seats earlier.  A fully uniformed band making a grand entrance gets butts in seats earlier.  I bet you seat more raggedy Ann and Andy this weekend though all bands in the land are fully uniformed by week 3. We are in week 4.

Build the relationships with the communities then celebrate them.

Everybody was in uniform week 1.

Who is paying for this?

Rick

They said tonight that the rings were paid/bought by WB...

We can say he hasn't done things, but the man has paid out of pocket for the chrome helmets last year and the 2013 HoD Bowl Rings...

When they said "Wren paid for it," they surely didn't mean out of his own pocket.  Out of his budget, or out of his personal fundraising efforts, maybe.

In 2013 the bowl committee asked the team if they wanted rings or watches, they asked for watches.

However over the years, some of them wished they had gotten rings instead.  WB organized donors to have rings designed and made.

WB is trying to get the lettermans association up and running better. Which is why you are seeing so much outreach to former players, including the 2013 bowl team.

Or he surely did... Again no proof.. the only proof that we know is them saying WB paid for them...
