Talked a lot about Creighton Barr's improvements over the offseason.
Talked up Lamar & their coach (to be expected).
Talked about Mason's fall camp.  Said he did not know who the starter would be coming out of Spring (between Shanbour/Fine... never mentioned anyone else), but Mason won the job this fall.
Talked about Wilson's strength/nutrition over the offseason getting him the extra weight they wanted him to have to be able to endure an entire season without injury.
Had no more info on English.  Said he's "on track", but gave no timetable.
Said he endures marital strife during Fall camp.

Anything else... add on!

Vito would've had heart palpitations if he had to write an article about Shanbour being named the starter. He's So excited that Mason was named the starter.

I have no problem with this. I do wish that they do some kind of rotation when we are going to be implementing the QB in the run game on drives. That doesn't mean to tip our hand and exclusively run QS, but sprinkle him in there here and there to limit hits. Much what is done with any RB rotation in the country. Otherwise, they will both end up being starters.

I understand the "limit hits" comment, but it has to be difficult trying to keep someone from getting hurt and maximize their talent at the same time. I think it was Lombardi (of whom I was never a fan) who said, "If you have two quarterbacks, you don't have a quarterback."

I don't mean to go full blown 2-QB system. I just mean when they want to dice it up a bit with an option look then QS needs to be the one in there. Therefore, we need to sprinkle QS in there so defenses aren't head hunting option plays. 4-5 plays a game of any variety would be ideal. Then when we need a change up in a close game to get us going, throw him in there and they will not really know what to key in on specifically.

Chumbly under center at the goal line?

It'd be great to see anyone under center at the goal line.

In this convo, I was just talking about a way to get a good running QB involved in the game plan, limit hits on Fine, and potentially create a spark when our offense starts to get inevitably sluggish. The only effective way to do this is to give QS meaningful snaps throughout each game.

Other schools have done what ben has talked about... While they didn't have huge amounts of success doing something like what UT did last year would be nice, or even what OU did with that QB who is a  TE now in the NFL (Bell?)

Because there's not that big of a difference between Fine & Shanbour when talking about running.   You're referencing a dude the called "The Belldozer".   If we're going to have a package like that, we may as well put Tauaalo back there '85 Bears style.

I agree that there is no major difference between Fine and Quinn, but someone like Izzy could fill that role...

There is no difference. That isn't the point though.

Speaking of the Belldozer package, look for OU to run a similar package this season with Kyler Murray. They say the dude has wheels...

No doubt.  He can fly.
