The price of 1,283 lower-bowl seats at American Airlines Center is dropping from $90 to $65 a game (a 28 percent decrease), and a group of more than 800 second-level seats is decreasing by more than 40 percent -- from $60 to $34 for one set and from $34 to $20 for another. Another 1,071 lower-bowl tickets are going from $70 to $65. ohmy.gifhuh.gifohmy.gifbiggrin.giflaugh.gif

Finally an organization is thinking of the fans!!!! laugh.gif

This is a great move that all the NHL teams should make in order to make the players look greedy if they do not accept a hard cap!

It may have more to do with the product.

People will overpay to see something great. They usually won't if it is subpar....which is what the Stars are right now. Thanks to Tom Hicks, the man responsible for me not caring for local baseball and hockey.

The Stars sold about 11,000 season tickets this season and have an average attendance of 18,357, just below the capacity of 18,532. But the team's 238-game sellout streak, which included the first two seasons at American Airlines Center, ended in October.

So we are averaging 175 seats short of a sellout this year.

I really do not think they are decreasing the prices because the team is not playing very well and there is no one at the games.

I think they are making a future investment in the fans and making a statement to the player's association that the fans are more important than their rising salaries and greed.

How can you say Hicks has ruined hockey for you?

Since he bought the Stars in 1995, they have not made the playoffs twice and have managed to win the Division how many times? Oh, and lets not forget the Stanley Cup Year in 1999 and making it back to the Finals in 2000.

Yeah, our team has really sucked here in Dallas.

Their terrace seats are still more than 2x as much as the Mavericks. Until I can get into a Stars game for $10-15 per seat, I'll be watching 27 and FSSW a lot.

I have followed hockey since about 1987-88, so I have been a fan since before we had the Stars.

When I say ruined hockey, I mean by trading Sydor and letting Hull and Hatcher walk, replacing them with Turgeon and a player no longer with the team...he was cut. I still think this team will make the playoffs, but Hicks and his budget has kept them from keeping their best player...especially on defense.

I love the Stars, but could do without the Hicks of now. Hicks of then was very good.

Ok, well I'm with you on the Sydor thing and letting Hull go was the one biggest mistake this team has ever made!

I'm mixed on Hatcher..... We do seem to miss his size at times, but the defense (Though bad last night) has not been our biggest problem this year. Offense is the major problem!

Turgeon SUCKS and Claude was a waste of time!

I will also agree that manby of the recent decisions have been questionable.

I do disagree about the complaint of Hicks' budget hurting us as we have the 3rd highest payroll in the league. Of course Turgeon has too high of a salary as does Arnott, who has done little this year.

Anyways, the main problem this year is a lack of offense as Modo, Niko, Morrow, Arnott, Turgeon, etc have choked so far.

Guerin is having a decent year and Young has lately improved his play.

They just need to put some damn wins together!!!!!

I was sick when they let Hull go more than anyone I think he was one of the teams best motivators! I do miss Hatcher and Sydor also.

Remember the defensemen set up the points on the offense, keep the puck in the offensive zone, shoot from the outside, and crash the goal once in a while. I personally think the defensemen add quite a bit to the offense.

The Rangers have one of the highest payrolls in the MLB. He wants to bring it down to 75-80Mil.

That means 25 for ARod, 25 for Chan Ho, Greer, and players no longer with the team that have guarenteed money (Esteban Young, Todd Van Poppell), and 25-30 for the rest of the team.

You have a 25ish man roster, and 50Mil is going to a great, a terrible, and a injured.

I think he is doing the same thing with the Stars, although on a slightly lower scale.

I do agree that offense is the major problem, but at least early in the season the defense was marginal at best. I think that came from losing your number 1 and 3 D-man...of six.

Good point!

I do miss Hatcher crashing the net!

I always found it entertaining when they would just sit him in front of the net during power plays. biggrin.gif

How would you like to be a goalie and have that "thing" blocking your view! blink.gif
