Hey everyone! Sorry to do another one of these, but oh well.

As you guys know I'm a transfer student. This is my first year and I'm going to be attending every home game. Trying to persuade my friends here to do the same. What's the tailgating scene at games like? Any must stops? Curious because I want to get the most out of my gameday experiences here, since I'm only going to be here two years. I'll be at the Lamar game bright and early so if you'd like to host me and say hello to a young UNT fan on his merry way, please do!

Hi there -- here is a link to our annual tag your tailgating thread put together by @UNT 90 Grad

Here is a direct link to the google map where some of our fan tailgates are mapped:  http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=201091365063211794234.0004e1e616fa14ccb41aa

I hang out at "Tony's GoMeanGreen.com Tailgate" and our group would love to have you join us, but there are many great ones you can visit, and honestly all of them that I know would welcome you with open arms.   I am sure that Tony will be posting more info closer to game day.

Apologies not needed.  I now live 5 hours away and with Jr. and Sr. High aged boys, getting to Denton for the games is tough.  As Harry stated, any of the tailgates will welcome you.  Introduce yourself and you will make many wonderful friends and connections.  Tony has a reputation for the juiciest, most flavorful balls in all the land.  Once you place his balls in your mouth you will understand.

There is also a group that camps out the night before the 1st game and spends the night.

Tony fertilizes and puts ant killer on his tailgating spot prior to the season:

There is also tailgating on The Hill, primarily Fraternities and Sororities but also families and other groups:

What is the ticket association to park here? Or is it cash parking?

That's a good question.  I think it started out as the student tailgating area.  Most likely cash parking.  But I don't really know.

If you're not there by 11pm Friday night, you're late

I work until 6am Saturday, but will down after I go 42 to partake in the festivities.

Of course this is subject to the needs of the crown.

For those starting tailgating on Friday (or tailgating on Saturday for that matter), I'm bringing a few DVDs for viewing when there aren't any games on that are worth watching.  For some they will be a trip down memory lane; for others they will be a history lesson.

Feel free to swing by.  Our tailgating location is on the tailgating map in the tailgating map thread.

Not to be pessimistic, but unless this pic is old why in the earth would they prolong this to start so close to the season? I think there is more than enough construction around the stadium that fans have to wad through in their cars on game day. Now they'll have to walk through or around it on game day as well?

I imagine it will be done before Saturday, the photo was taken last Saturday morning and it looked they were getting ready to pour.

No idea but could it be that new budget year just started, and them having funds to spend now compared to a month or 2 go ago???

Maybe. Not really worried bout it though if that pic was taken last weekend.

Well it was somewhat like this last Thursday (8/24).. I'm assuming on Friday/Saturday they would be more than able to put any type of metal wiring to hold it together and then pour hopefully not long after..

I'm assuming most everyone won't really care if the ground doesn't look "pretty" if the walk-way is completed.

Pouring that amount of slab in an already framed sidewalk is less than a day job. Throwing down sod to that flushes up against the sidewalk can be done simultaneously. I think they'll have it completed before Saturday.

It was Saturday.  Too close to get it adjusted and set properly at that angle in my mind.  Again could be the budget approval etc as mentioned but would have liked to see it fine sooner.

Kind of disappointing things like these won't be completed for the first home game (even if its due to budgets, you think they could start it early then pay once new budget comes out) but hopefully things like this will be done and completed before the UAB game in week 4
