2 things here.
1. "...we will never test them."   GOOD!
2. "...like FAU or UTSA..."   UTSA brought on a shaky assistant coach from Bama.  That's about the extent of 'risk' they've taken.   FAU is associating themselves with all kinds of question marks.    Very different scenarios.

According to some on this board Frank Wilson is cheating and always has cheated.

I personally think they're just jealous and have no other way of dealing with it because there's no proof.

I don't disagree with both points, but UTSA is more prepared to test the limits than we will ever go. No problem with that, either, but there's also no doubt that they wanted football to succeed right from the start. They hired Larry Coker--anything with Miami ties back then was just shady. Frank Wilson coming from LSU and hiring that Bama assistant with the sketchy background doesn't dispel this thought. But that's what UTSA decided they would use to promote their university. It's certainly been a good start for them. But it won't surprise me if they start winning and beat a few big name P5s along the way that the NCAA comes knocking. I do know we will never have this to worry about here as it's not the primary window to our school.

This is kind of my point of view on it.

People were quick to defend players getting arrested under McCarney. I remember, explicitly. But if someone else is doing it the same people are quick to throw shade.

To your point, UNT has nothing to lose. What is the NCAA going to do? Take scholarships from us and force us into losing? We are already losing. We are on the wrong side of untouchable. Granted, that doesn't mean we should be bringing on absolute habitual offenders or violent people onto campus. Play your cards, look at all of the options, offer who you think can learn from their mistakes and be a better person.

Speculation. Nothing more. He is offering troubled athletes. A ton of programs do this every off season.

A ton?

By ton, I mean that there are only a handful of programs that offer and honor actual 4-year scholarships. Most have thier players sign the dotted line year-to-year to play for their scholarship. For every 1 media attention incident, there are 10 incidents that are held within the confines of athletic department walls and they are offered and re-offered again and again for the sake of winning. That is the ton I'm referring to.

Lane Kiffin doing it is only getting attention much like Tebow Tebowing and playing baseball, Kap and Co. kneeling, Linsanity, etc. etc. etc. It's not that it's happening. It's because Lane Kiffin is the one making it happen. It's a storyline, a punchline, etc. The most troubled player from a public perspective point of view is the former FSU QB that punched a girl. Just at OU a player did just that, but he played at the same school and was just drafted.
