Other than maybe Tennessee, the big colleges all consider the Big 3 sports to be football, men's basketball, and baseball: https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-football/sec-dominated-big-3-sports-past-decade/

Baseball will take years for it to catch up once it is started....

Till then WBB will be the 3rd sport... Plus we have to factor in that UNT would likely want to support JM and WB is a basketball guy as well...

I wonder about those that think that football makes money.  If it was based on financial impact, football would be first thing to go.  Heavily subsidized by student fees, football still loses millions of dollars.   So baseball and every other sport lose a lot less money, therefore on a purely financial basis would be preferable to football.   This is true for NT and the majority of other fb division schools.

Football and basketball however do provide by far the most exposure for schools. Those are basically the sports that most follow and they provide a link at least to a segment of the alumni population and do spread the brand of the school.

As far as interest, football and men's basketball are for out in front for universities that field those teams.  Baseball and Women's basketball are the next tier, but WBB is the premier women's sport at most schools, so it usually is going to be favored.

At the major schools football makes the $ that funds every other sport.  One day, maybe we will be there.

If baseball didn't matter, the B1G wouldn't have bothered stamping its feet and throwing major temper tantrums for the past fifteen years trying to get rule changes in its favor while the SEC continues to game the RPI heavily in its favor so that even it's sub .500 last place teams get pissed off when they don't make the tournament.

How again did LAT upgrades led to baseball? Oh right us wanting to stretch an already tight budget even farther to bring in more sports.... Dear lord guys, lets build an IPF/ Weight-room/ offices and provide current sports a stadium... then we can discuss a baseball team... If you really want it that bad, I'm sure WB would be willing to speed up the process if you/ a group of yall wanna drop a couple million on it.. till then its upgrading our CURRENT sports teams and facilities...

Oh, I've long since given up hope of baseball at UNT.  No sense in trying to convince anybody otherwise.

Once again, no reason to give up on it... WB has answered it and said that baseball will be a sport here once the other sports are up to par... It will come, now instead of coming ASAP, it will be down the road, but it is coming...

That looks 10x better than the last time I was there. The question remains though, still serving concessions from wooden huts on trailer wheels underneath the visitor section?
