Interesting note on English Inwasnt aware of.  He is the godson of UNT letterman Bruce Chambers.

He evidently committed early to UT under them coach Mac Brown.  My guess is that in the regime change he ended up changing to K-State.  I never was exactly clear as to why he decided to move to K-State but they were thrilled to land him late -- here's a link to his commit to KSU:  http://www.kansas.com/sports/college/big-12/kansas-state/k-stated/article9257117.html

There is one overlapping year (1978) which was Bill Snyder's last year here as a coach and Lee English's first year as a letterman.  It is likely that they knew each other but to what extent it is hard to say.  My gut tells me that Lee did not influence the offer but he did have an effect on his son's decision.

After the spring game I went down on the field to give out a few "attaboys". I made a point of having a word with Mr. English, and  during our conversation I told him that I was guessing that he was wearing #34 because he wanted to wear his dad's number (33) but that that number was retired. He was very friendly and appreciative of my positive comments about his play, but he indicated that it wasn't until recently (the last year or so) that he knew anything about his dad's playing days here at NT....including the number his dad wore.

I'm not sure what to make of that.

He also was committed to UCLA in between his Texas commitment and signing with Kansas State.

Mean Green Sports lists Bryce as a RS Sophmore.  I thought because of his transfer for family health reasons that he did not lose a year of eligibility and would still be considered a RS Freshman?

That extra year will be given at the end of his time at UNT... I think he is a 4 and 4 guy now with him using his RS his first year at KSU, then having to miss last year as a transfer.
