This list is a joke. Major Applewhite is 0-1 as a head coach. How can he be ranked above Frank Wilson, David Bailiff and Seth Littrell who have all led team to bowl games.

I guess the syntax is important here. They're not asking about performance in a given school...lota of these are new or just arrived last year aftwr successes elsewhere. But even though I voted for Seth out of loyalty (he's in first at the moment), if you consider it as a metric of success in their current position, he would still probably be top 3 or 4. Patterson is a reasonable pick. A couple of others too. But most can't really be valued much until they show some degree of success.

A side benefit of this poll is it shows that NT fan 1. exist and 2. read and/or see the DMN and/or DRC and 3. will actually act on what they see. It won't make huge changes in reporting but if it happens often enough it will start to get noticed.

Meh. I still won't read the DMN. I get my news the old fashioned way: older relatives on facebook.

Nothing but a popularity contest.

Patterson has earned his spot and Herman did a good job at Houston, but will he at UT.

Kingsbury isn't number 5.  He is a current day version of Dodge except he has college defensive coaches that can't stop the other team from scoring.

Rhule was fantastic at Temple, but how will that translate to Baylor and Texas coaches. He may end up getting undermined by Baylor's issues.

Sumlin is an enigma.

Bailiff has done a good job at Rice over the years, but appears to be sliding backwards, rated too high.

Littrell took a mess and turned it in to a bowl team.  Still have room to improve and prove himself but appears headed in the right direction.

Wilson also took his team to a bowl and appears to be a recruiting hotshot.

Morris hasn't really done anything at SMU but took over a mess and appears to be slowly turning that program around.  Will he stay?  This year will tell a lot.

Kugler one of UTEP's own.  Just a tough road to hoe out in El Paso.

Withers His first year was a mess.

Applewhite Has yet to prove anything.

Apparently, after looking at the picture of David Bailiff, I am now the head coach of the Charlotte 49ers.  Maybe my long lost brother.

Pretty spot on.
