So I was watching the Steven Colbert show Monday night and his musical guest was the great Paul Shaffer and his band "The Most Dangerous Band in America". This got me thinking of our band.....the Green Bridage and their motto "The Show Window of University Spirit and Pride (or is it Pride and Spirit?)".

Does this motto need an update? Maybe something like (as a nod to the great Maurice McAdow) " Flourish with Attitude",,,,or something over the top like  "The Musical Special Forces",,,,,, OR.." Ladies and Gentlemen, please fasten your seat belts, it's time for THE GREEN BRIGADE".

It's the off season.

"The Showcase of University Spirit and Pride" was already being used as part of the intro to the halftime show when I was in the band in 1980.  It probably was started by Dr. Winslow when he took over the band.

I suppose it could be considered a motto.

How about playing to the younger generation and calling it "the most lit band in the land"?

or The Green Brigade, our drum line will break/crush/destroy you

Only if they add "The Weight" to the repertoire.

I agree. The Band has a nice ring to it. I don't really get the entire need for mottos. Additionally, if they are looking for an update, how about ditching both the khakis with Ts and polyester uniforms and stick with one that won't look like they forgot the uniforms or the other that melts people inside of them. Maybe ask Nike to make them something. They'll slap the swoosh on anything with a market.

...or if you want something more lively....."Rag Mama Rag"

But if the choice IS 'The Weight" then the band needs to get into a classic "chopper" formation when they play it.

They could be the Loud and Proud Band...or abbreviated "The LAP Band".

They *do* move with surgical precision
