FWIW, as his note indicates he was put on scholarship last year.

Well yeah but I don't think most people knew that. I know i didn't. Just figured he was still a walk on

I think he has a solid shot of taking the job this year. I think he's got a better arm/release than Fine and is equally as mobile, plus he might be the smartest guy on the team

I just wanna win, don't give a Rats behind who starts.  Also FWIW this ship doesn't count against a class, as he had been here 2 years previously. He has also been granted another year of eligibility.  By my count he has this season, and next season so he could potentially be a 2 year starter.

2016:
• Made his North Texas debut on 11/12 at WKU, going 0-for-1 passing and carried once for no gain

2015:
• Did not see any action

2014:
• Did not appear for the Mean Green

2013:
• Redshirted first year on campus, after walking on following the spring semester at Oklahoma State

High School:
• Attended Heritage Hall HS, and then went to Choate Rosemary Hall, a preparatory school in Connecticut
• Threw for over 1,500 yards as a senior at Heritage Hall

Good for him. He deserves it for the work he puts in.

Excited to see him compete for the starting job

without a doubt.

I think he has a solid shot of taking the job this year. I think he's got a better arm/release than Fine (yep) and is equally as mobile(about a half step faster), plus he might be the smartest guy on the team (yep, already has his degree and working on his masters)

I assumed he was on scholarship, nice to have it confirmed.  By the way, McCarney moving on was not a good thing for walk ons.

It was more the fact that he was a sub-6 foot quarterback than walkon on the McCarney leaving benefit.
