President Trump is about to speak at the Liberty graduation ceremony and it is being carried by many of the major TV news stations this morning.  It appears to be taking place in their sports facility which is on campus.

Yup. All those years of tax evasion, fraud, and not paying professors at their "university" by the Falwells has paid off.

Wow beautiful brand new looking stadium with amazing views of mountains.  Big video screen.    I gotta say I was impressed.

Yeah, Liberty is a beautiful, master-planned campus that is flush in money - they have lots of it.

I'm not a big fan of Falwell, but you are about as negative as 90.I have no love for Falwell or Liberty, but why are you so butt hurt. Ben would you be 

upset if it was on CNN or BsNBC and would you not watch on FOX sports or take the money for appearing. As for tax loop holes I think all should be shut 

down because like the Clinton Foundation most are bogus.(or the administrative expense are outrageous)

Threads like this are pretty much the only reason I'm happy about the Liberty series. Every time anyone here mentions Liberty I know it will turn into a political debate and I always know I can get some pretty good entertainment out of that. #GMG

If you haven't already you must go to the Liberty Athletic site and watch the 2 minute video on their athletic facilities. Folks they are way, way ahead of UNT in every area concerning facilities with the exception of the football stadium. We are competitive concerning the football stadium. This WILL NOT be an easy win.

Let me tell you their schedule is being built on games against teams they believe they have a decent shot of beating.  We will see how it plays out but this could be a very challenging series for us.  Their program is moving upward very rapidly.

Maybe he'll be there to cheer them as they get curb stomped by our guys.

This has nothing to do with visiting a beautiful part of the country, or scheduling a FBS opponent we can beat, or the quality of their facilities.  This has to do with lending credibility to an institution that is contrary to the values I hope UNT embodies.  It isn't about conservatism or liberalism.  It's about an ultra-right religious ideology where adherence to one man's interpretation of Christianity trumps everyone else's.

      We may have seen the glory days of UNT basketball

      If you thought beating Texas Wesleyan was an insignificant win, then I would have to agree with you. I don’t care what sport it is, if North Texas beats a Big 10 or Big 12 team, I think that is a really big deal: especially men’s basketball. Just curious: what would you consider a significant win?

      Same deal in Mansfield 85 million just ridiculous. Meantime, Spring Branch ISD still uses Tully Stadium for ALL if its high schools and updates it as time passes.

      You could not be more misinformed on the stadium side. I lived in Katy in 2017 when they built the $70.3 million dollar stadium right next door to their old stadium that while at time could fill up was not full for football on most Fridays. This is the stadium that is often credited with the stadium building boom (though Northwest ISD did this model many years before) Colossal waste of money correct? That was what I thought but I found out that is was not. At the time Katy had 5 high schools and had 2 more under construction with one completed and waiting to open. The district is so big that it creates it own UIL district. Prior to the new stadium all games were played at Rhodes Stadium (9,768 seats), 3 games a week. Games would start on Thursday and end Saturday. With the new schools opening they would not be able to play all the games. Options considered were building stadiums at the schools at a cost of around $25M per school, or pool the money and build 1 state of the art facility. The choice was clear. Now on any given game night you had a game at the new Legacy Stadium (12,000 seats) and one at Rhodes Stadium still have to play on Saturday but gets the games completed. In the Spring Soccer takes over and the stadium. Students run the stadium as part of their classes - Scoreboard, audio/visual, and concessions with adult supervision of course. I would say that on any given week the stadium is used 6 of the 7 days during the school year. Varsity and JV sports, Band, Cheer, and events. It is even opened up for peewee sports. It is used for playoffs in both football and soccer. During the summer it host camps.
