The Gov should mind his own business. Let Marshall's Board and Administrators do their jobs without interference. Holliday's contract runs through 2021. In Holliday's seven seasons his winning percentage is .589, with four bowl wins in four tries. He had one really bad season...3 - 9 last year. He was C-USA Coach of the Year in 2014. Marshall has a good coach and has earned more rope than "one bad year and you're gone". JMHO.

Well on the good side, the powers that be care about the program.

I'd rather have what we had with governor Beebe, appointing hardcore fans to the board (always had two former lettermen on the five member board) who would pick up the phone and call a former fraternity brother and suggest he needed to have the new press box named after him for only $5 million.

When Hugh Freeze left, a couple days later Freeze called the governor's personal cell phone and asked if it were OK to give the number to Gus Malzahn. He opened the initial negotiations and when the contract talks hit snag called the AD and told him "sign the damn thing".

Governor Hutchinson has been good to us loosening up some of the discretionary spending for some projects but it was more fun with Beebe (who was and is a regular on our board).

Why did Pruett leave Marshall?  Did he retire, resign or was he fired?

He "retired" but had many earlier shady dealings with paying players through off-campus jobs and his seat was getting very warm.

He came out of retirement a few years later to be the DC at the University of Florida for a couple of years.  Pruett is nearing his middle 70s and I don't believe this to be a viable threat.
