Based on the way that the players that were ready to commit to Ark State (and this is no reflection on Ark State) have switched to UNT, it seems like the key factor is not the school, campus, city, etc.

Agree. Looks to me like we landed a high-quality coaching staff. Turn 'em loose and try to keep 'em happy. Looking forward to returning to the SuperPit this fall after a LONG absence.

Fair statement.  At least when it refers to any place in Arkansas! 😂😂

It's a fair statement regardless of the state. Coaching changes bring on endless player transfers and turnover all over the country, in the two major sports. Recruits pull commitments before even getting to campus, particularly in football, when a coach is fired or decides to change job every single year.

Oh, and Arkansas is the most underrated state in the country. Doesn't get its due credit.

Would you agree player transfers (after coaching changes)  occur  more frequently in basketball than football ?

GO MEAN GREEN

I would say more frequently in football just because of the amount of players that are involved in football. But it happens per capita probably more in basketball. It's just not heard about as much because there aren't as many players.

Most basketball players can name a good piece of the roster of any NBA team, they know the blue blood college programs and a few more elites. After that recruiting is relationships. You bond with the assistant recruiting you.

According to the NCAA, 40% of all men's basketball players who enroll at a four year school straight from high school leave before their junior season starts with roughly half transferring within Division I.

Coaching changes (head and/or assistant) and playing time being the major factors.

Unlike what many on the football side, think: recruiters are the key ingredient in recruiting.   First, it is the conference; but among peer programs it is all about the people selling the program.  I got so tired of hearing made up reasons why NT can't compete with UTSA and La Tech like teams in attracting players.
