I have zero artistic ability and therefore my opinion really means nothing but the branding looks pretty good to me.

The new look seems to come across well on the football uni displayed.  The basketball uni though...

Nice to see they kept the classic "R" logo.  If it's been tweaked, I can't tell.  As for the Owl head logo, it reminds me of Wise Potato Chips. :)

We're fortunate to be in a conference with such an outstanding university. It is one of the very best in the nation. I hope this branding is successful for them.

So what changed?  The rebranding looks pretty much the same as before.  Did they pay someone for This?  If so then I would have told them "keep the same" for half the price.
