Not a ton of weight to this but an interesting read for boredom during Off-season.

Can't stand USC, but that kid they have now is a stone cold gun slinger.  Best in the nation, IMPO.

That's a pretty crap rating for Fine, but I guess if all you look at is numbers and don't watch the games (<cough> Athlon <cough>) I can see why he'd rank here.  Better o-line play coupled with a deeper WR group is what this kid needs.  Doubt he gets the oline improvement this year, so it could be another tough year for his numbers.  Especially with Nic Smith developing this spring, the RBs are going to get the headlines for this offense again this year.

What did we expect, as great as Fine was at times last year. Most of his stats came in garbage time or in 1 or 2 games. Morris who started what 4 games had more TDs

114th out of 130, similar to our preseason ranking.

When you only complete 6 TDs passing with 5 interceptions in 261 attempts you can't be expected to rank very high nationally.  Even Morris threw for 9 TDs with 76 less attempts.  

We can blame the offensive line or receivers but Morris was less mobile and still managed to be more productive with the same line and receivers.  Fine needs to make quicker decisions to avoid sacks.  His accuracy is fine but one TD per 40+ throws is not good for a passing team.

Hopefully, an improved offensive line, improved receivers, and experience will move Fine much higher on the list this year.

The ranking might seem low but I see no issue with the reasoning the writer out. We do need more consistent play from the QB position if we want to make a bowl again this year.
