THE GAME!

That was such a good game....if they didn't have superfreak on their team shooting lights out all nite...TOTAL different game! I losty my voice about mid way thru the second! "I'm blind, I'm Deaf, I wanna be a Ref" was a great chant my boy Ramsey threw off in the late minutes....It was nice to see the pit somewhat filled! and by far...I love Shawnson Johnson! That man is BIG!

That was yours truely shooting down there for the wingstop....too bad i bricked three different three's to win over my boy Kevin....but it was fun! Flashbacks of High school playing in front of all those Mansfield Fans...wait i got cut! dang!

Post Game...

Did anyone other than EagleChick03 know about Margarita Monday's at Sweetwater...and WHY DIDNT someone tell me! Had fun with Ole Eaglechick03 and Brooklyn at Sweetwater! Brooke you are a great girl!! and Jennifer it was really good to finally actually talk to you! Maybe you will remember me now! jk

Pre-game

I already expounded a little in the tailgating thread, but I thought it was awesome. I had a lot of fun burning hot dogs and tearing hamburgers apart while meeting some of you guys. There were a couple things I forgot, but overall I think it went really well and I think it'll go just as well for the UT-PanAm game on January 8th.

Also, Johnny Jones is pure class. He stopped by before the game to the tailgating and shook everyone's hands and personally thanked us for being out there to support the team. I really appreciated that from Mr. Jones.

The game Game Pictures

I'll start out with the complaints, since there are very few. First off, I've noticed a trend with our guys in that they don't come out to play the first few minutes of the game. Every home game I've seen this year, they're flat in the early part of the first half. Example being our game against Baylor where the Bears made an 8 point run to open up the game while our guys scored zero. After a quick timeout and talking to by JJ, they showed up. Also, the turnovers are just killing us. Incredibly stupid passes that a team like Indiana can capitalize on right away. I wasn't able to see or hear the SE Missouri game, but I bet the same thing happened in the 2nd half.

The positives. Our guys absolutely dominated Indiana tonight. I don't care what anyone says, if Indiana didn't have their superstar in Bracey Wright, there would've been a completely different outcome to that game. That guy is an absolute monster, but when it came to the other 4 Hoosiers, it was the North Texas show all night long. Inside, it was definitely the Shawnson Johnson show. Unfortunately, Rogers wasn't on tonight from the 3pt line, but he did make some good feeds in the 2nd half.

I thought our team played a hell of a game, and they've come a damn long ways from how they looked at the season opener against NW Oklahoma. Night and day.

Scrappy - I bolded it in case someone knows the person in the suit. I think Scrappy did very well tonight...especially the bit with the shopping cart and the chair. I'd love to see Scrappy really active like that in all the games; it was great stuff. I love playing ESPN College Hoops because when the Mean Green make a really big play, Scrappy high 5's the coach. (yeah I'm lame)

I think I also lost a bit of my voice, and yelling tonight was tons of fun. Lots of people, and lots of noise made this really exciting. It almost seemed like we have basketball at North Texas...

After the game

I went home, didn't realize there were extra-curricular activities.

As far as hot from outside, both Hopkins and Rogers have had nights where they dominated from the outside. I remember the Baylor game was all about Leonard.

We have the right guys to do very well in the Sun Belt, they just need to show up to the beginning of the game, and pace themselves better. There were a lot of runs where they just threw a shot up way too quick and didn't hit anything. They might as well hand the other team the ball when they do that.

I can't complain too much, because I think the Mean Green played Indiana closer than most people thought they would, and it's certainly a far cry from last year and the opener this year. I better not say anymore, because I don't want to curse anything.

again i say....Tonite was alot of fun....the only basketball games i can honestly say i have gotten more into as a fan were the Mansfield state finals for our girls and the mavs vs. Sac last year in the playoffs....i think we made a statement of how far we have come by only losing to a elite team by 8 tonite...and everyone is right...a few more drops from outside...this game is completely different! See ya'll wednesday at TCU for our girls!

The game was a lot of fun. I haven't seen that many people in the Super Pit maybe ever. There weren't even that many for graduation. I know it was because of Indiana but it would so nice to have crowds like that on a regular basis.

I already miss football season but watching basketball is also a good time!

And yes, Sweetwater's $2 margaritas on Mondays are also a good time........of course following it with Tavern's Monday special of $1 pints makes it that much better. Gotta love Denton's drink specials and the MEAN GREEN.

I love the heart and intensity this team has. I too have noticed how they don't show up until two or three minutes into the game. But when they get in sync, our guys put on a great show. I was very proud of the way they played against a big time program.

I am hoarse, and a little hung over this morning. It was sooo worth it. Almost as fun as a FB game.

The game was a lot of fun, we made a good run towards the end bringing it withing 5 then that one kid makes his ONLY basket of the game and it was a 3 pointer. Go figure. There was this one crazy guy courtside though that was giving the reffs a hard time! I got a nice pic of him I will post later! But it was a very fun game.

CMJ: I didn't notice the game on Sportscenter, but saw pretty much the same thing on FSSW where they showed Bracey Wright the whole time.

None of the local news stations showed highlights from the game. They were far more infatuated with OkSU eating beef at Lawry's.

Well that's just how the local news is man. All they cover here is the practice sessions of Michigan and USC for the Rose Bowl. I don't even think the Lakers are making the news right now.

It was great to be out there tailgaiting with everybody. I really hope it takes off and more and more people show up each time. Moving closer to the road probably is a good idea. More exposure. Great to meet some people from the board.
