This is the Stockholm syndrome that is NT fandom. Right here.
And I totally understand. We’ve made underwhelming hire after underwhelming hire… then make a good one, but even he peters out.
Why would we ever assume NT can make a good hire, right?
It’s not like there aren’t a ton of examples of G5 schools that experience instant turnarounds. Why can’t NT find the right guy like these other programs do?
Memphis should win today but, as we all know, they will take days off.
I suspect we will see more of 2023-2024 Tigers: they’ll continue this run and then sputter at some point in league play.
We have a good rotation of guards but our forward/center depth is nonexistent. We've got Lorient and that's about it. I try not just look at numbers to determine value on the court but Newell and Sissoko just aren't producing much. Those two are shooting less than 50% from the field. Regarding Sissoko especially since he takes most of his shots around the basket, we just can't have that against the better teams.
Honestly, looking at our games and stats, we have offense from multiple sources now. That was not the case when we had teams with Jason Edwards and TP.
I feel like on the offensive end, this is really a team effort. The scoring droughts come due to the defensive intensity the team brings. As I mentioned in another post, it is very exhausting to play hard on defense. This is why in the NBA and other types of teams you see so many runs. Not sure if people notice, there aren't many big runs in our games.
