Why? He has similar credentials? Top FCS O-line, high school, OC, HC experience. Makes a lot of sense

Except in Langston's case, these credentials are trending the WRONG WAY.

You'd like to see a guy go from high school, FCS/DII assistant, OC, HC, ...  you know, moving UP.
Instead, Langston's career seems to be on a downward trajectory going from DII HC, to HS coach, to FCS Asst, back to HS coach.

I'm just not a huge fan if he's the guy, but hey, we'll see.

After the sanctions he had a couple of years of show cause from NCAA so HS was just about his only option.

He served his time in HS and then got back in the college game as Dir of FB Ops at Lamar, which probably did him a world of good in terms of better understanding the rules. Then he moved up to OL coach and then OC for 3 years. He has been on his way back up since the sanctions.

Agree that his name doesn't have the flash that a P5 name might have, but he has HC as well as OL experience, is relatively young, has connections all over TX, is immediately available, and likely comes at right price.

There are a lot of positives to go along with a couple of not so positives like the sanctions and the fact that his offense laid an egg last season.

I'm not concerned about P5 connections.   I don't know that I would be on board with the two guys people keep throwing around on here from Tech/OKSt either.

If I'm choosing, I would rather have a guy JayD is describing.   A younger (younger than 44), hungry coach who's career is in an upward trajectory.   He could come from DII, FCS, G5, P5, I don't really care.

But, I'm not choosing.  Littrell is, and I trust him.

So would hiring a fired P5 OL coach put that person on an upward trajectory?    Or a downward one....

Depends.   Why was he let go?   Staff turnover like coach Koonz @ Cincy?  What was he up to before his last stop?  Moving up like coach Koonz @ Cincy?  Moving down?

UCO is a hole.  Hard to believe you'd be breaking NCAA rules there, but....

As long as he isn't in charge of compliance, I suppose it's okay to give him a shot.  I just don't think it's what many envisioned when Littrell was brought on board, then Baker.

I know they haven't "done" anything yet, but the Florida's AU and IU made majoring hirings for the football program this off-season.  When do we expect the same?  Or, I guess a better question is, when do we get the same?  We already expect it to a large degree.
