Yep, heck of a RB at Abilene High a couple of years ago.  There is a lot of talent in the Abilene/San Angelo area.  Hope his connections help out in that area.  Welcome to Denton.

Wonder did he have any impact on selling Novil about UNT over ACU?

Also, glad we are now adding GA's that from outside of the UNT program, and someone that has a profile out in the Abilene- San Angelo area as well.

Having to sell someone over ACU.....how fu**ing embarrassing

Hey...

...ACU is building a new stadjyum on their campus that will be open this season.  No more trekking down to Shotwell for the Wildcat faithful.

And, it is being built of the money of a DFW-area alum who has given somewhere in the neighborhood of $20-$30 million.

Good things are happening at ACU!

The only question now is can they sell it out?  Only 8,500 seats.  What a raucous, little crowd that could be!

Yes, and we have high hopes for Mr. Mosley.  ACU, being private, affiliated with a very specific church group, and with an enrollment of only 5,000-6,000 is somewhat of a targeted audience as far as alumni involvement goes.  There is a loyalty among the alumni.

Mosley, I believe, simply looked around the ACU, saw the money that had been given in the past for the Business and Bible buildings and said, "Someone should be asking these donors for athletics as well.

As stated before, one of the founders of Trammel Crow was a linebacker at ACU.  The founder of Casa Bonita (Taco Bueno, Crystal's Pizza, Casa Bonita) and the old Plaza National Bank in Dallas.  The co-founder of Randalls.  Countless guys like that around Texas were spawned from ACU's little business college in the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

Those guys tapped money back into school in many ways, mainly toward business and biblical studies.

Hopefully, Mosley can tap equally successful, big money UNT - and NTSU - alumni.  We do have some nice additions to the campus since I graduated in 1995.  I sincerely hope Mosley can have a sh*t ton of alumni cash steered toward the athletics department here.  I know this will sound bad, but:  he did a hell of a job at Abilene Christian!  Hope is continues here.

Honest question, because I'm most likely one of the younger guys on here and have no idea...

But do we have any big-time alumni/notable alumni that could just drop a ton of money? I know like OKState got one of their alumni to give them a blank check to build up there program

I believe Brint Ryan is our biggest but I could be wrong on that.

Of course, the late Robert Randal Onstead was a UNT alum & was apparently a good Campell'ite (Church of Christ) member, too.

No one at UNT even knew of Onstead until one fine afternoon years ago I drove up to Denton & submitted his name to Dr. Peter Lane who could not find his name in a huge data base of UNT alums.  Lane was in charge of Advancement back in the 80's when it was located in the "drafty" old UNT President's home near the Super Pit back in the day.  I applaud Lane for jumping on a rather hot lead & told him so years ago.

Onstead in his last few years was said to have really become interested in UNT who'd never contacted him before but then he died  suddenly while on a European vacation.  His family honored him with a memorial mall (?) near Willis Library.

Onstead almost became owner of the Houston Astros except that Drayton  McClane outbid him.  And yes, Onstead could have easily financed a new UNT football stadium had he been developed as an alum many years earlier.  Oh well...? Live/Learn.

LOL, I wish I could drop that kind of money... But as a current student just trying to get an internship and working for free for the AD Office it has been near impossible.
